Lyrics

I was moving on from Hermosa
Destination Marina Del Rey
The darkened beach was all but deserted
I was the only skater there that day
Out beyond the mist on the water
By those lighted ships just out to sea
Up above I saw something moving
Coming ever closer, they were coming ever closer
Heading straight for me…

Now I believed in things like religion
I put my faith in words that made no sense
Yes I believed in love for awhile
But nothing prepared me for this circumstance
Were they right about what was written
Was this to be the beginning of the end
As I felt my life pass before me…

Suddenly the earth and stars were still and I was trembling
But I tried to understand
Blinded by a beauty and a grace that I had never known
She gently touched my hand
And she said
“Son… you’re gonna be alright
But you better listen to me…
There’s just one thing left to do
Drain the swamp of DC…”

All at once I came to my senses
I watched the waves in silence for a spell
I looked around for signs of her coming
Who would believe me, who would I dare to tell
I thought about the words that were spoken
I tried to find the meaning in my mind
There at last, the truth dawned upon me…

It was not by random chance they came into our world
No they were with us all along
Traces of technology the progress through our history
The life that made us strong
And she said
“Son… you’re gonna be alright
But you better listen to me…
There’s just one thing left to do
Drain the swamp of DC…”

It must have been appalling
To watch our standards falling
Right before their eyes
In the distant skies…
A warning to a nation, the world, to all creation
“Stop the media bias; the selling of access
The partisan lies, the hypocrisy
Just drain the swamp of DC…”
